Description:
The patient presented here has herpes simplex lesions in the area around her mouth caused by the herpes simplex virus type 1 or the HSV-1 pathogen. This herpes simplex virus causes oral lesions which are commonly known as cold sores or fever blisters, or medically referred to as recurrent herpes labialis.
